Read and Decode QR Codes Directly in Your Web Browser

Reading QR codes typically requires a smartphone camera, which can be inconvenient when you receive a QR code image via email, desktop chat, or document downloads. WebTorq's QR Code Scanner solves this by decoding QR matrices directly inside any web browser.

Simply upload an image or capture a frame using your device webcam. The scanner extracts the underlying text, URL, or data payload in milliseconds without sending your files to an external server.

Local Image Decoding Process

The decoding engine draws your uploaded image to an offscreen HTML5 canvas element, analyzes pixel luminance values, locates the three corner position detection patterns, and extracts the Reed-Solomon error-corrected binary payload entirely in client RAM.

Client-Side Privacy Guarantee

Processed locally in your browser; your images and camera frames are not sent to WebTorq for processing.

Privacy & Processing

This tool operates in a sandbox directly inside your web browser. All parsing, processing, and downloads are rendered locally. Your file size, metadata, and contents never cross the network. It works completely offline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I scan QR codes from image files without using a camera?

Yes. You can upload or drag-and-drop any PNG, JPG, or WebP screenshot containing a QR code to decode its contents instantly.

Are my uploaded images or camera frames uploaded to a server?

No. All image processing and matrix decoding execute completely within your local browser memory using HTML5 canvas APIs. Your camera feed and photos never leave your device.

What types of QR codes can this scanner decode?

It decodes all standard QR code payloads, including web URLs, plain text strings, Wi-Fi configuration strings (WIFI:S:...), and vCard contact cards.

Why does a blurry QR code fail to scan?

QR decoders require sufficient contrast between dark modules and light quiet zones. If an image is heavily compressed, out of focus, or unevenly lit, the alignment patterns may not be resolved.
