Client-Side Audio Sample Slicing & Ringtone Creation
Whether extracting the infectious chorus of a track for a mobile ringtone, sampling drum breaks for music production, or isolating sound effects for a podcast soundboard, extracting custom audio clips is an everyday task.
WebTorq's Audio Cutter provides a visual in-browser cutting canvas. By rendering interactive waveform representations from local PCM audio data, you can dial in sample-accurate cut points and export your excerpt in seconds.
Sample-Accurate PCM Buffer Slicing
Unlike compressed bitstream splitters that can only cut near rough frame boundaries, WebTorq operates directly on decoded sample buffers:
- Sample Index Calculation: Start index = startTime × sampleRate; End index = endTime × sampleRate. At 44.1kHz, this grants 1/44,100th second precision (approx. 0.022 milliseconds).
- Float32Array Subarray Extraction: Channel arrays are sliced using high-performance typed array methods (Float32Array.subarray) in memory.
- RIFF Header Encoding: The extracted slice is formatted with a standard 44-byte RIFF WAVE header, ensuring instant playback across every media player.
